Frances Nuno is a licensed attorney whose legal career is defined by more than 25 years of hands-on experience in the legal profession. Like many attorneys who began their careers as paralegals before entering law school, Frances built her expertise from the ground up—gaining decades of practical litigation and transactional experience before becoming an attorney.
Frances began working in the legal field in 1993, serving as a receptionist, legal assistant, paralegal, and attorney across a broad range of practice areas, including medical malpractice, civil litigation, commercial real estate, business transactions, corporate law, probate, family law, criminal law, and real estate. While working full-time, she earned her Juris Doctor.
Before entering attorney practice, Frances developed extensive experience in commercial real estate and corporate transactions. As National Real Estate Coordinator for McDonald’s USA, LLC, she worked with the company’s Real Estate Center of Excellence, coordinating complex real estate development projects nationwide. In that role, she reviewed real estate contracts, title documents, lease abstracts, and due diligence materials, collaborated with McDonald’s legal department, resolved title issues, and managed critical transaction deadlines for new restaurant development.
After passing the California Bar Exam in 2022, Frances transitioned into attorney practice with a deep understanding of litigation procedure, case development, and client advocacy—skills developed through decades of frontline legal work. She is admitted to practice in California, Arizona, and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of California and the District of New Mexico.
Since joining Poulos & Cavazos, LLP in 2023, Frances has played a key role in medical malpractice litigation. Her work includes legal research, drafting and managing complex discovery, taking and defending depositions, attending mediations, resolving sophisticated healthcare liens (including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, TRICARE, VA, and private insurance liens) and presenting cases before the New Mexico Medical Review Commission. She is known for her attention to detail, strategic thinking, and ability to efficiently manage complex litigation from inception through resolution.
Frances’s unique combination of litigation, commercial real estate, and corporate transactional experience provides clients with a distinct advantage. Whether representing clients in complex medical malpractice litigation, commercial real estate matters, or business transactions, she understands not only the law, but how deals are structured, disputes develop, and successful outcomes are achieved.
