Melanie Ben is an associate attorney with Poulos & Cavazos law firm, where she represents individuals and families who have been seriously injured by the negligence of others. Her practice focuses on medical malpractice.

Melanie believes that every client deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and represented by someone who is willing to stand up to hospitals, insurance companies, corporations, and other powerful institutions. She is committed to helping clients navigate the complex legal process while pursuing the accountability they deserve.

Before joining Poulos & Cavazos, LLP, Melanie obtained experience in medical malpractice, insurance defense, and insurance bad faith. That experience has provided her with a deep understanding of complex litigation, trial preparation, and the importance of detailed case development. Melanie has experience handling cases involving: Medical malpractice, Wrongful death, personal injury, and hospital and healthcare negligence.

From the initial investigation through discovery, mediation, and trial, Melanie works closely with clients to ensure they understand every step of the process. She values honest communication, and persistent advocacy, recognizing that every case represents a family whose life has been permanently changed.

Melanie earned her Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she served as a citations editor for the Natural Resources Journal and the Environmental Law moot court team, and received honors from the Southwest Indian Law Clinic. She is admitted to practice in New Mexico state and federal courts and is a member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyer’s Association.
